Ascent Trip ReportAt the hotel before sunrise, we sit on motorcycles and drive towards the park entrance. We get the permits and in the darkens drive at a thrilling high-speed up the steep road. Good thing the motorcycle driver put me in the front instead of the back. It takes a few minutes to "moto-climb" 500 vertical meters. Motorcycles leave us at -7.362166, 110.049361. We continue along a well-marked path. All the way to the ridge, from where you can see the smoke rising from the crater floor, a small lake and some trails. We turn towards the highest S peak. In one place, fixed rope support is needed. But not very hard. The marker at the top, great views all around. An attempt to descend the SE slope into the middle of the crater fails due to the steep clif. We turn back the same way we came. We visit Puncak Kawah one more time and go down. A great volcano with beautiful views.
4h55 up, 0h30 on the top, 2h45 down, 7h30 round trip.

This was a self-organized trip. Made with the help of a driver in Indonesia and a few local guides in Malaysia. Due to landslides, all parks in the Perak region in Malaysia were closed, so we substituted them with a few-day peakbagging trip in Indonesia.
