Ascent Trip ReportFrom hwy 45 south of Nampa, go right as advised on Missouri Avenue, 6.5 miles, passing the gate to turn right, north, into the very busy landfill site.
Reach end of pavement at a circle area, 0.1 past the gate. Proceed 0.6 on dirt as directly as posdible towards the now visible butte. Pass by the radio tower closely to its lect. South, side. There are a dozen dirt tracks headed off every which way. Just stay the course.
The final 0.1 is steep and loose, but reasonably safe. I did it in 4WD 1st gear, but not low range.
High outcrop is to the left at the top. No register or BM seen. Great view of the landfill to the north. Budget an hour interstate to interstate.
FYI, I left straight north immediately after the gate on Farner Avenue, as I was headed west to Oregon. Google Maps directed me this route, likely saving me 15 minutes through Nampa. |
