Ascent Trip Report

This is one of two "Nettle Knob"s in Watauga County. Both are listed at 4220. I didn't see any nettles, stinging or otherwise.

In the "town" of Seven Devils, follow Alpine Drive NE to its end, through a gate for a small subdivision called Big Rock. Park in the cul-de-sac, follow the driveway E for a few yards till the bank on your L diminishes, and then bushwhack N through open woods to the ridge, where you'll reach an old woods road. Follow this E until it ends near a saddle and a rhododendron thicket. Stay to the R of the rhodos on a deer path to the summit outcropping, where there's a nice view to the S of Grandfather Mountain. Half-mile round trip. 14 minutes up, 11 down.
