Ascent Trip Report

Beautiful day for a nice hike!

Took my 9 year old daughter on her first hike ever on this 10.1 mile loop through Mt. Liberty and ultimately to Mt. Flume. I am so proud of her!

The hike up to Mt. Liberty was a bit tricky for those in our group of 8 who were a bit inexperienced - they were challenged, but it's only b/c they are beginners and not quite in shape. For the avid hiker, this ought to be a breeze of a loop from the base parking lot located one exit north of Laconia's Visitor's Center.

I noticed that most of the other hikers who were doing this loop, started from the southern trail, hit Mt. Flume first, and made the descent down after hitting Mt. Liberty. I preferred doing the loop from the north trail first b/c it allows you to ascend the flat, rocky and often wet rock formations that may be tricky if one were to make the descent down from Mt. Liberty, down to the base parking lot.

Overall, a nice, easy 10 miler for those who are in low to medium shape.

Nice hiking all!!

Elbert
