Ascent Trip Report2h45 up, 5h10 round trip. Standard hike from SW, standard drive in from SE, open access thru military base, lovely landscape, meadows with mature trees, quite a sight after 2 weeks of desert peaks. Del Venturi Rd (paved) was open today, the issue seems to be the creek crossings which are Designated Areas and not to be used when there's water, except with the express permission of the Commander! The alternative via Mission and Milpitas has signage indicating not to be used by the public without a permit. Anyway I entered via Mission and Milpitas (excellent unpaved, no issues despite some rain last evening) and left via Del Venturi.
Hike itself good, trail easy to follow, good boot trail with some cairns and green tape. Trail bypasses Pt 5570 as per map, then to west summit next to remains of lookout tower (steps intact, no floor or lookout), West summit approx equal (hand level, some vegetation obscuring sighting) to east summit which has trig pillar (with cross marked bolt in dust under register) and 2 reference markers. A third reference marker found SE of ex lookout, couldn't find what it is pointing at - not the pillar.
