Ascent Trip Report

Just bought the 1999 Z3 after driving out to Florida one way in a rental. I stayed the night near Tallahassee and threw back the top in the morning when it was still freezing. I totally blew out the rear window. Fixed with tape in Defuniak Springs, which put me WAY behind schedule to get to Abilene that night. I got to Lakewood Park at around 11:20 AM. Few People where in the parking lot.

In order to meet my prominence requirement, I ran back down the highway until my elevation was below 300 ft. I then ran to the summit marker and wandered around the park making sure to tag the high point.

I talked to a couple in an older Honda who were also on a roadtrip about cars for a few minutes and then headed towards Alabama. I didn't make it to Abiline and had to cancel my reservation and stay in Dallas. I think I rolled into Dallas around 10 pm after driving through all of Louisiana at night at having more schnanigaze than I really need at a gas station in Monroe.
