Ascent of Fir Mountain on 2011-06-26Others in Party: | Steve Perino
| Date: | Sunday, June 26, 2011 | Ascent Type: | Successful Summit Attained | Peak: | Fir Mountain | Location: | USA-New York | Elevation: | 3620 ft / 1103 m |
Ascent Trip ReportHiked the Pine Hill-West branch Trail in from the Biscuit Brook PA to the Biscuit Brook lean-to. Followed the tributary of Biscuit Brook on the south face of Fir for a bit then took a bearing and went uphill. This was a pretty gentle climb with no really steep sections. We hit the summit a little west of the canister which we found without too much difficulty. We enjoyed our traditional prosciutto celebratory feast at the canister then took a bearing due south of the summit and followed the stream on the south face back to Biscuit Brook and the Pine Hill-West Branch trail. About eight miles and five hours round trip. |
