Ascent Trip ReportFrom I-80, it's all driving on dirt roads to the "summit" monument. It had downpoured the night before & I was thankful I had a 4WD Toyota truck; it got pretty muddy (but I did not have to switch on my 4WD though).
Along the way, I had antelopes running alongside my truck & then also a very large skunk also running alongside my truck. Some prairie rabbits also made themselves known.
And you also have all the buffalo to look at that's on the private land that you need to pay to access the monument.
A short drive away is the Three State Marker of Nebraska, Wyoming, & Colorado. Again, it was nice to have a truck to access this muddy, rut filled dirt road. |
