Ascent Trip Report

Last of 3 HP's on the trip (WV,PA). Park along the road and hike up what seems to be an old logging road. 1 mile hike all uphill. Enough to tire you out when reach the top. Found the MD/WV cement pyramid marking the border and thought was at HP. An area right next to it is being clear cut for I'm assuming strip mining. Decided to cross the clear cut because I thought I saw a higher area but wasn't sure if it was in MD. Also thought I might be trespassing as there are no trespassing signs while making the ascent. Glad I decided to look more as I did find the HP after crossing the clear cut. Looks like they are cutting all around the HP. Will be interesting to see if this will be the HP in the future because it seems to me they are going to cut the top off the mountain to get to the coal. Was a sign, picnic table, and mailbox with sign in sheet at HP. Pretty nice views. Dump trucks working around the area the entire time. Thought one was going to come over and tell me to get off the property. We'll see what the future holds for this site. I thought it was one of my better HP adventures. 12th HP.
