Ascent Trip ReportFrom the most popular start point, Refugio Migerou. The car park was 90% full when we got there at around at 10am. When we returned, there were also cars parked on the side of the road nearby.
Psiloritis is the name used by locals, rather than Mount Ida. The trail to the main summit is obvious and, given the popularity of the mountain, we were never far from someone.
Going off trail to Agathias was a different matter. No-one was there even though the views were as good. But there is no trail so the hordes do not visit.
The Psiloritis summit was busy. We could see Pachnes (which we had visited the previous day) and Spathi (which I would visit a couple of days later) above a sea of broken cloud. A professional crew was carrying out interviews and filming, and three guys in traditional Greek clothing were dancing. Well, I guess it all adds to the experience!
We spent a very pleasant hour on the summit in the warm sun looking at the views. Back the same way.
3 hours up, including the diversion to Agathias and 2 hours down.
