Ascent Trip Report

Beautiful day for a solo hike. There is not much info available on the specifics of the route other than the Olympic Mountain Guide. I attempted route 2 of the OMG starting at the Western end of the Surprise Basin end moraine. There is an obvious scree gully that takes you on the climbers left around the Arrowhead. According to the guide one should then turn right (north) and get above the Arrowhead. I remember this vaguely but did not see or find an obvious way to do so. I tuned South through traverses, gullies and chimneys and must then have joined Route 1 (I suspect) arriving on the ridge South of the peak for an easy traverse to the top. You can see the details on the attache Strava GPS. If one wants to follow route 2 there must be a way to turn North south of the Arrowhead - this was apparently not obvious to me. But I did not search extensively. In any case the route worked but involved some exposed Class 4 chimneys and some exposed traverses. Ascent time for Shelter rock about 4 hours.
