Ascent of Crag Mountain on 2011-05-21
|Date:||Saturday, May 21, 2011|
|Ascent Type:||Successful Summit Attained|
| Elevation:||1503 ft / 458 m|
Ascent Trip ReportI parked along South Mountain Road, maybe a half mile east of where it crosses Mountain/Old Wendell Road. The Metacomet-Monadnock Trail follows South Mountain Road for a short distance, so look for the white blazes while driving. Next, the trail turns to the north, following a long driveway before turning into the woods.
It took only about ten minutes to hike to the summit of Crag Mountain. It was easy-going until right before the summit. Reaching the summit involved a brief scramble over some rocks, and then the trail crossed the craggy features that comprise the summit of Crag Mountain. There are nice views to the east and west sides.
