Ascent Trip Report

Short road/bushwack from the south side ..... 500yards, 40 minutes RT.

From hwy #27 (just before the Montauk Point Lighthouse) I drove north on East lake Drive (sign on post) around the east side of Lake Montauk for .96 miles to an unnamed road on the right with an arched entrance, its posted "Private". We decided to ignore the sign, since it looked very public, turned right and drove the paved road .4 miles to the summit area at a locked gate for a large fenced-in area, a lesser road continues right. The high ground is west of here on the other side of the fence, the ground outside of the fence is dense with vegetation. We parked here.

I chose to walk back down the road about 100 yards to a fire hydrant and found an opening in the dense vegetation for my bushwack. The summit being left of north at about 100 plus yards.
I left the paved road and bushwacked my way to the summit always following the easy way. Easier than it looked. New housing development to the west. Didn't see anyone.
