Ascent of Lantern Hill on 2011-05-13Date: | Friday, May 13, 2011 | Ascent Type: | Successful Summit Attained | Peak: | Lantern Hill | Location: | USA-Connecticut | Elevation: | 490 ft / 149 m |
Ascent Trip ReportWhat a great little hike. I came in from the Lantern Hill road side at the pond, and saw the cliffs and realized that my time situation did not allow for an attempt from this side. I drove around to Rt 2 and Wintechog Hill Rd. I parked at a trailhead and followed the well marked trail to the top. It is pretty steep and the views from the top are great. There is a benchmark that actually has the name of the peak on it, which is always nice. On the east side, it is a sheer cliff. The only negative is that you see the massive casino to the north east. What a gem of a little hike. |
