Ascent Trip Report

I parked my car at 35.241425, 24.7781829. A few more guys on the lower trail. Some with beach slippers. Actually, they aren't bad; some climbed one or two hundred metres before turning back.

A stone paved trail at the beginning. It goes as far as 2000 metres in altitude. Respect for the Cretans! The trail becomes a well-marked gravel trail to the EES ridge. A good quality trail traverses the north slope of the EES ridge. The trail goes all the way to the summit. Never too steep, never too hard. The summit is marked with a big bell, a wooden cross, and probably a chapel. It features beautiful views in all directions. W side in the clouds, which stopped a few hundred metres lower. Five minutes later, I was descending on the same route. I wanted to avoid the mid-day heat, so I started climbing quite late, just before 16:00. The entire mountain was mine. It was a lovely, short, and memorable hike.

1h50 up, 3h20 roundtrip.
