Ascent Trip ReportFrom SW, Eita, should be a toll to pay but we couldn't find out how. Hiked N up pass (closed to vehicles - but there were two cars parked up there later). At top of pass we pick up a trail, boulder hop stream, paint marked trail up, passing a small lake, climbing a moraine ridge then splitting, with easiest route straight up coulour, keeping R of snow, climbing to S ridge. We take L fork as per the vienormale website, heading up towards gully then traversing R then up L. However this has a short unpleasant descent into gully, not recommended. Once on S ridge, the NE ridge is soon reached. Then walk along easy snow arete (top of glacier) on on rocks to L, then scramble to summit, steep rock with fixed chain (very welcome oh descent). Highpoint is just N of shiny metal cross, with triangular trig to S. Register shows ascents most days; we have the peak to ourselves today. Clouds lift while we're at summit, nice views; impressively steep glacier below. 4h25 up, 8h15 round trip
