Ascent Trip Report

Saw a grouse. That was our highlight. The orienteering was fun but the hike was not too fun.

Trail was boggy and wet and we slipped in the mud a lot. Then the bushwhack part was worse. Climbed a north to NE bearing from the south slopes and hit close packed spruce very soon and fought through young seedlings and christmas trees that scrached and cut us. No views. Found peak with GPS or as close to it as practical. No views at all. Miserable bushwhack - you never know what you get and this one was not fun. Appears that the ridge from the west would have more hardwoods and open but i wanted steep for my legs work out. Either way you have to bushwhack the top and it is loaded with young spruce.
