Ascent Trip ReportOvernight near Weminuche Pass. Stats are for entire trip, including traverse to Peaks 13278 and 13261. Got caught out in a massive hail storm on my way out.
The Weminuche Trail is very easy to follow and there are good spots to camp near the creek ivo Weminuche Pass. The Skyline Trail was hard to find in the dark, but once on it, the trail was fairly easy to follow. It is somewhat overgrown in places, but was still easily passable.
The traverses to Peak 13278 and Peak 13261 are very easy to navigate. From Peak 13261, one descends southeast toward the obvious grassy ridge line (coming off Peak 13278) that separates you from the Skyline Trail. Just follow on the grassy slopes, traversing until you can be on the ridge proper, eventually rejoining the Skyline Trail when the ridge slope gets back to tree line. |
