Ascent Trip ReportWe started our trip at Summit Lake and hiked the east face of Mount Evans. It was only around 1.5 miles up and every one made it up with ease. We saw some mountain goats on the way up and around the summit. Peter and I decided to try and hike back towards Guanella Pass TH and try and nock out Bierstadt via the Sawtooth. We got about a tenth of a mile out on the Sawtooth and realized we had climbed about 30' above the trail and had to backtrack. We made the decision to not try the Sawtooth and just make our way to Guanella Pass TH and meet up with the rest of our party (who would pick us up after desending Evans). Towards the base of the two peaks we had to bushwack through fairly thick scrub. The weather today, compared with the weather the day before on Lindsey, was perfect for climbing 14ers. |
