Ascent Trip Report

Hiked up from Little Cottonwood canyon (White Pine Trailhead), left around 6 am from trailhead, made Red Pine Lake within 2 hours, from there up there were several patches of snow that we hiked through, upper Red Pine still had ice on it - BEAUTIFUL! Continued to hike up and got on ridge line then up to the peak. Summitted from the East by 10:40 am. Decended to the West, dropped down on the lowest point and decided to not finish hiking to lighting ridge, dropped into the Divide (Utah County - Alpine side called Horse Pasture) - by sliding down snow and crawling over thick pockets of brush, eventually made it to horse tail falls and out...this route is not recommended and involved a lot of bush wacking - Overall however, Great Hike, need to chose better route down next time- hiked out at dry creek trailhead at 3:30 pm.
