Ascent Trip Report

Tried to get to West Point by bushwhacking from the Alum Cave trail at the ridge. Nothing but an occasional game trail to follow, and the ice made it challenging. If dinner wasn't at 6pm at the lodge, I think I would have prevailed, but I had to bail off at the col. I dropped straight down and hit the Bullhead trail right where the Rainbow Falls trail cuts back. I went down the Bullhead trail to see if there was a manway up the ridge from that side, but I couldn't find one. I think the best way is to either follow the ridge out like I tried, or bushwhack diagonally up from the Bullhead trail to the col and try from there. Give yourself an hour if you are going hard. FYI, no one I talked to at the lodge had any idea how to get there, or even if it existed. That being said, they were an excellent resource for any other trail beta you could want.
