Ascent Trip ReportFrom SSE, Pfändl, Google Maps dead-ended me at foot of Pfandler Straße where there's parking (School? OK on a Sunday) so it was convenient to start there. It's possible to drive closer (Zimnitzstraße), with parking options although upper part of road appears to be private/restricted. Paths are well mapped and signed. Keeping R (anticlockwise via Schüttalm and east ridge) is shorter, and the signs have a black spot on account of easy scrambling and a cabled section near the summit. I ascended that way and descended via Mitterzinken and Gartenzinken (both P30m approx), although that route has plenty of roots and limestone which was slippery from recent rain, and a short rope-protected section. Both routes need care. The summit has a latticework cross and Gartenzinken has a battered trig block and a sundial which wasn't working (but the sun did appear lower down!). Weather dry apart from a brief shower. 2h40 up, 2h30 down.
