Ascent Trip Report

The "official" island highpoint is shown on maps as Point 267, at/near the intersection of East Hartstine Island Road/ East Burgundy Road/ East Inspiration Way. This *might* be true. I parked alongside the intersection and did some bushwhacking in each direction. I believe a bramble-covered dirt mound I found near the northeast corner of Hartstine Island Road and East Inspiration Way might be the highest point. However, that mound does not look natural.

Future summiters might want to also visit the area of Point 266, located in a contour northeast of the official highpoint, technically 1' shorter than the official highpoint but possibly slightly higher. This is purely speculation on my behalf, as the original Point 267 might have been lowered and/or paved-over when the roads were put in. Point 266 can be approached by bushwhacking from one of two gated logging roads, one at a road-bend along East Point Wilson Road and one along Hartstine Island Road. The branch road from Point Wilson Road is the closest approach, although both roads are signed "NO TRESPASSING".
