Ascent Trip Report

Brutal ascent requiring Sherpa support and oxygen. Camp IV was avalanched off the mountain during our summit bid, so we had to descend the south face in the dark with no idea where the crevasses were. Using our last ounce of strength, we crawled into Advance Base Camp to begin the process of cutting off our frostbitten fingers and toes. We could hear the rockfall and avalanches above, wondering how we lived to tell the tale...

Did this one while driving between Pensacola, FL and Ft Myers, FL. It's about 20 minutes from I-10. Short walk from the parking lot. Cool stone plaque. Actual high point is in the woods not far from the plaque. We wandered around for 15 minutes or so to ensure that we covered the high ground. My 19th state high point and my son Aidan's 4th. 31/46 more to go!!
