Ascent Trip Report

This a long sought after CA state park highpoint. The Usal Road is closed in the winter and the CA State Park website had indicated that the northern access was closed. So we found the southern access point on Highway 1 as it heads toward Leggett at mile marker 90.88. It is a brutal road, but go at it slow and you will be fine. We used a Dodge Ram 4x4 using 4WD. At mile marker 22 on the Usal Road you need to park. From there it is a steep, but short bushwhack to the highpoint. The highpoint is amongst four madrone trees and I put five sticks in a formation in the hollow out truck of a redwood marking the highpoint.
