Ascent Trip Report

Tour de Abyss. Had to wait a week before a decent weather window. Bierdstat East Ridge>Sawtooth traverse. Spent the night at the Columbine Inn in Idaho Springs the night before. I drove to the top of Evans and hiked down to drop in the gully. The gully was not terrible. The willows in the basin were tough to deal with. The whole route wsa pretty wet as it had rained constantly. I had to wait til a Saturday and I had been in Colorado over a week at that point. The climb out of the basin was not that bad either. On the ridge the scramling was awesome. Probably the best I have ever done. The move coming down from point 13.... was pretty spooky. Took a short lunch break on the summit of Bierdstat. Multiple drones and people everywhere. I was already pretty tired by the point. Started down the Sawtooth and definetly made it harder than it needed to be. Good climbing there also, I thought the last tower was possibly the crux of the day. The ramp was a little spooky. I had been playing hopscotch with a group all day, and when I was climbing up a very loose, spooky section they were above me and kicked down some rocks. None of them got to me but it was my first close call with a rock. After I was out of this section it was just a LONG hike to Evans. The top of Evans was a complete madhouse with a million people. Spending all day at this elevation was extremely tiring.
