Ascent Trip ReportApproached from Slate Pass TH, camped in meadow west of Shellrock Pass at 6,400 as per common beta. Many downed trees along all trails, especially on Middle Fork of the Pasayten and between Doris Lake and bottom of Shellrock Pass. Route goes from 7,100 feet exactly as described in Stephenson/Bongo book. Their photo on Page 97 of 2004 edition is all you need. Ryan Stoddard's GPS track is also very helpful in following trails in this area and to summit. Beware the usual loose rock issues on many Bulgers. Confidence abounds as the lower part of the route is so fast and easy, but there are plenty of teetering talus anvils aimed at your head, hands and body once you get to the ridge. We made friends with a very nice family who had to evac a member from Blackcap with a very crunched finger the day after we climbed.
