Ascent of Mulhacén on 2021-06-20
|Date:||Sunday, June 20, 2021|
|Ascent Type:||Successful Summit Attained|
| Elevation:||11414 ft / 3478 m|
Ascent Trip ReportDrove to Capileira, and took the bus from there to Alto de Chorillo (2700 m) at 8:30 am. You need to call ahead and reserve this bus with the national park. It was 3 hours roundtrip from Alto de Chorillo to the summit--800 m gain and 9.6 km. The return bus leaves at 16:15, so rather than wait 4 hours I walked down the road to Capileira (1300 m). In the future I'd recommend driving the road to Hoya del Portillo (2100 m) and hike from there to the summit-- it'd be about 22 km roundtrip and 1400 m gain.
