Ascent Trip ReportThis hill rises surprisingly high, considering its small footprint on the land.
Parked on Vista Drive. Walked eastward along Pinnacle Street and found a trailhead near the intersection with Birch Hill Rd. Followed the wide path generally to the north, before making a left turn on a narrower, steeper trail that curved back to the south toward the summit, following a ridge that offers a much gentler slope than an approach from the south or east. The trail curves around the steep rocky summit area, and goes all the way to the highest point.
From the summit, there are nice views of Hooksett, the Merrimack River and other hilltops to the east and north. After taking it all in for a little while, I descended on a different trail down the western side. Part way into the return hike, I walked along a dirt road for a short distance at the base of the hill on the west side. I then met up with a trail that paralleled the shore of Pinnacle Pond, which eventually let me out in the neighborhood where I had parked my car.
