Ascent Trip ReportI parked at the intersection of Alamitos Rd. and Hicks Rd and then walked down to the creek that empties into the reservoir. It was pretty low, so I was able to hop across, unlike a couple months ago when I came here to scout this route up. From there, I climbed up to an old road cut, followed it for a while, and eventually left it to work my way up to the ridge with a combination of bushwhacking and following old fire breaks. Once I gained the ridge, it was smooth sailing the rest of the way, with a surprisingly good use trail all the way to a dirt road at around 3000 feet. The dirt road went past Mt. Chual and Crystal Peak and eventually to an intersection with a road to the top of Loma Prieta. |
