Ascent Trip Report

Decided to hike Beaver Brook trail to experience a new trail up the Moose, and chose the Moose because Peter, Sarah and Meghan would meet up with us. This trail is pretty challenging in that it is steep and has a section or two with spaced out wood steps/handholds that are anchored into steep rock slabs. Also there were a couple of icy spots that we had to circumvent. Peter, Sarah and Meghan started alter, caught up to us, passed us, but we all gathered on the summit for windy/chilly summit photos, and the hunkered down behind rocks for a quick lunch before heading down. They were back at the car before Joe and I but waited so that we could have a celebratory beer at the car together. So, one weird encounter... close to the bottom on the way down, we passed a gentleman that was pretty disheveled and looked a bit hippy like. He had no water, no back pack and his shoes were like Jesus sandels. We chatted briefly and he was taking a bit euphorically and a bit gibberish. We passed and hoped he would be okay. While back at the car with beers, he eventually emerged from the trail and headed to his car. Well, to our surprise, it was the fancy impeccable antique in the lot, and he got out his cell phone ad sounded like he was chatting with family, giving his whereabouts and time he would be back home. I guess we missread him as we had thought he might be a homeless man due to his appearance. Turns out, he might have just been a modern hippy out for a walk in the woods with a little wacky tabacky.
