Ascent Trip Report

Nice little park. Too bad the marker is not anywhere near the highpoint. We started out on the red trail, followed it to the end, back downhill to the highpoint monument, and then up the white trail to the south side of blue trail to finish our trip. The true highpoint clearly somewhere between the red trail and blue trail about 3/4 of the way up (west), or very close to it. Poor form if visiting just the granite marker and claiming the highpoint :-/

Found an old register behind a tree as I scrambled though the woods… in complete disrepair and probably should be thrown in the trash but left it as is.

Sign at the entrance says no pets, so we brought our rottweiler with no issues. Though there are no vistas the forest was scenic and this happily turned out to be well worth the 1 1/2 detour on our return home. Also happy we allocated the time for all the trails through the park. The drive home took us through Florala which looked to be an enjoyable small town and though we spent no time it is probably worth an afternoon or maybe even a full day. For a non-peak peak this was a good one.
