Ascent Trip ReportChiricahua mountains loop - Johnson Pk, Monte Vista Pk, “Buckskin Pk”/8746, Raspberry Pk, Raspberry Ridge, Chiricahua Pk, “Ward Pk”/South Flys Pk, and Flys PK/Chiricahua BM:
This was my last day of my Southern AZ spring break spree and a long day was in order. Starting from where I camped in Sycamore Canyon I mainly used the Morse Canyon Trail, Crest Trail and Saulsbury Trail for this loop. Many sections of these trails have seen better days as they have been badly damaged by burns. My route between the Flys was a bushwhack and it might be better to do each peak as short out-and-backs then return to the Crest Trail to connect the two. I highly recommend the Saulsbury Trail, which follows high along the ridgeline with captivating views and a unique perspective of this area. Good stuff, it was.
