Ascent Trip Report
Started at 10:42 AM exactly, where me and my mom started hiking up the road towards the trailhead after parking a mile short of it. The road was in good condition, but it needs high-clearance as there are many large rocks the size of soccer balls. 4WD is recommended as well. The trail was well marked with cairns and Alltrails helped a lot. The hike starting from the trailhead was very easy, only covering about 400 feet of vertical gain in the first mile. The snow on the ground was very packed, and only exceeded 8 inches in very isolated spots. The first scramble occurred after the first fallen tree, and it was Class 3, but very icy. Crampons would have been helpful. There were three more Class 3 scrambles within the next 1/4 mile. After that, the trail continued and became more steep. The higher we got, the more tired we felt. By the time we reached the ridgeline, the wind picked up a lot. The ridgeline was easy to go up, and we reached the summit at 1:13 PM! My first 3000 foot+ prominence peak was summited. I signed the register under the summit cairn. The way back was harder, as without spikes we were slipping. By the time we made it back down to the car, it was very late, about 4:00 PM. Awesome hike, the views are worth it, but moderate to difficult.
