Ascent Trip Report

Fun snowshoeing bushwhack up Crum Hill from the northwest. Started out on a snowmobiling trail being trailed by a large white dog, then jumped off of that and headed up the ridge through thick forests with heavy undergrowth covered in snow. We were hiking on three to four feet of snow the entire way, and would occasionally sink down to mid-thigh or higher. Beautiful untouched snow on the false summit, but there was a logging road or some sort of development on the actual summit, which was disappointing though it lead to several great views west to Greylock, the northern Berkshires, and the Taconic Ridge. We descended in our own tracks to the snowmobile trail and returned to the car at Bliss Road.
