Ascent Trip ReportAn unsuccessful attempt to climb Moldoveanu from the Capra Bend on the Fagaras Road. I followed the yellow triangle markings and the rusty wire protection of the Three Steps From Death and then the ridge route as far as Varful Vistea Mare with only a short notched ridge Moldoveanu. I felt a strong sense of foreboding, whether a premonition or simply a manifestation produced by tiredness I don't know, and turned back, spending the night in a survival bag on the flat summit of Arpasul Mare rather than tackle the Three Steps by head torch. |
