Ascent Trip Report

A disappointing day. First up Mother Miguel from end of Paseo Veracruz. Way to many people on this trail and on the peak. The highlight was going on to 1513 where I was alone other than two Asian girls. Went back down and followed Mt. Miguel Rd. to Horseshoe Bend which is on private property and not worth the walk out to it, then on to Gobblers Knob which is the top of a cul-de-sac of homes where there is no view unless you go into someones backyard, then on to the only worthwhile point of the day, Corte Cantante Hill. A short climb up a steep trail with nobody in sight. There is a California Highway Division marker at the top which is actually out the ridge a ways from the 548 point on the map. But I had wanted a relatively easy day since I had just gotten my 2nd Covid shot and this did fit that bill. 10 miles with 2100 ft. of elevation gain.
