Ascent Trip ReportThe road in was bumpy but not too bad.
We initially started up hill perpendicular to the gate to avoid the posted no trespassing sign, but even after going under the initial barbed wire fence, another cut us off from where we wanted to go, so we backtracked and went through the gate (it was only secured with rope).
The initial prickly pear maze had several cow-paths through it, or it would have been nightmarish. Once above the prickly pear, the hike was steep, and often on uneven rocky terrain, but otherwise not bad. As Dean Gaudet mentioned, the trail which contours south of the ridge with point 6778 was the best part of the hike. On our descent, not far below the summit, we found a nice (animal?) trail that made for the connecting ridge allowing us not to lose and regain elevation there, not that we lost much on the ascent.
