Ascent Trip Report

Drove past Blair Valley in the jeep (high clearance 4X4) out to view the remnants of Marshal South's Yaquitepec cabin (circa 1930s), and then reach the peak. First mile was on established trail up to the cabin. Paused to look around - very eerie....just the skeletal remains of what once was, atop a windswept summit. Continued up the ridge, bushwhacking and agave-avoiding another mile or so until we hit what we figured was the highest point. Peak is not visible from the ruins - a total of 3 or so false summits before the real one is reached. Searched for ammo box and/or BM but found none. Scrambled (class 2.5 maybe 3....) to highest rock and carefully made our way down, staying as close to the north ridge as possible. Past the ruins and back on trail. Fun hike with Nate!
