Ascent Trip ReportWe were not really planning on Mt Disappointment but it was too close not to get. Our day started with a nice loop hike of Josephine Peak. Finishing about noon we decided we wanted to hike Mt Deception just up the road. We hiked the nicely graded paved road to the use trail to the top. From Deception Mt Disappointment looks very close, and it is. Mary had been there before but being the good sport she is we came back down the use trail and continued up the road to Disappointment. Lots of new radio tower buildings under construction. Again from Disappointment San Gabriel Peak looks even closer. Once again Mary having been there as well was a sport and we finished the day on San Gabriel Peak. Beautiful views from all three peaks. Just a few people around. Came back down quickly along the Bill Riley Trail. A very nice trail! Total for the "loop" was about 7.5 miles and took us a leisurely 4 or so hours. A gain of about 2200 feet. A few patches of snow in the shady spots. Some Pics. |
