Ascent Trip ReportBeautiful day. Had to park at the campground rather than the Bear Gulch TH as I had intended due to full parking lots, which added a good 5mi round-trip to the hike. The hike from the campground to the trailhead was crowded and boring. The Rim Trail from the trailhead to Bear Gulch Reservoir was beautiful but also extremely crowded. Once past the reservoir, I only saw three groups for the rest of the hike: one group of 2 coming down as I was on my way up, four people eating lunch at the summit, and one solo hiker climbing as I was on my way down. Clear day with beautiful views from the summit, including of some snow-capped higher peaks in the Diablo and Santa Lucia ranges. Vegetation mostly chaparral, with some ghost pines and junipers mixed in to make it interesting.
