Ascent Trip ReportHiked up Pack via the Wapack Trail from the Miller State Park parking lot. 3-6 inches of snow on the ground and temperatures below 20 degrees cut down on the crowds, although the parking lot was full by the time I returned. The weather looked scary on paper, but turned out to be nearly perfect - sunny with absolutely no wind. I had the summit all to myself for 5-10 minutes while I climbed the fire tower and laid eyes on Mount Washington for the first time ever. Also some excellent views of Monadnock to the west and some of the Green Mountains beyond. I was surprised to see that it took me 35 minutes to do the 1.4 miles to the summit - I guess the snow slowed me down more than I thought. I continued on the Wapack Trail north to North Pack.
