Ascent Trip ReportFolks, North Stump Tavern Road is sand. Welcome to Jersey. Best bet is to have 4WD. If so, you can come into the area from the Northwest. If not, stick to the southern route via 526. You will go into a development and straight ahead you will see a road that peters out. If you have 4WD or are very confident you car can make it, follow the road north to the high point in the road. This is a single track sand road, but there is a turn around near the high point. When I was there, it was snow and ice, which made passage easy (I have 4WD and ice and snow makes sand easy). The high point candidates are all on the obvious ridge.
Tower Road: This high point is right next to the tower complex. The house to the west looms over the tower base and is best accessed from east. Follow the fence line for a bit, climb up the hill (fairly steep) and head back to the car.
Hemlock Drive: Parked between the two developments. Headed directly to the high point. I have heard that this is called "Tick Hill" but in January, it was more like Snow Hill. Bushwhacked through scrub and Rhododendron, but this would have been MUCH worse in the spring or summer. Couldn't find an obvious high point, so I just kept trending west until I was confident I passed it.
