Ascent Trip ReportHiked with Dan and Samson from Alder Road for winter credit. We started off with microspikes and switched over to snowshoes shorter after Beaver Meadow lean-to. The trail was pretty nicely packed, but we felt snowshoes were necessary in order to maintain its integrity. No beaver activity at the lean-to today. We hiked around both sides of Alder Lake for red-lining purposes. On our thru hike with Rich this past fall we hiked on the northern side. The northern side is shorter and much flatter, and therefore it is much more heavily traveled. We did not stay long at the summit because it was quite windy.
Oddly, we met the same two couples we met last week going up to Balsam Cap. This time we saw Sue Hall and Tom first, and shortly thereafter we ran into Annette and Greg (I think) Govan again. So weird.
