Ascent Trip ReportGoal was Mendo, Killington, Pico. Tom was driving up from CT and met me in the Pico parking lot. We left my car there and drove his car around to Brewers corner.
15 - Parked Tom's car at Brewers corner. We headed up the snowmobile road. We continued up to the switchbacks. At the first switchback (~2 miles in), the GPX I had veered into the woods (south). The trail continued SW. Decisions, Decisions. We decided to follow the trail because bushwhacking in 2'+ of snow looked slow. Fortunately, the trail switched back again - perfect. We continued up to the "ski patrol sled" against the tree. From there we followed some ski tracks off and on, but broke trail most of the way. As we approached the summit, I didn't remember all the false summits - that was confusing.
50 - We eventually found the true summit, the Mendon sign and signed the logbook.
20 - We retrace our route back to the ski sled, and then start breaking trail all the way over to the bucklin tail.
50 - Intersection with the Bucklin trail. We turn right and head up to the summit.
00 - Killington Summit. It's windy. We continue over the summit to the ski trails and go inside the lift to eat, drink and warmup a little. We look at the map and decide to abort on Pico and head back down the bucklin trail instead to Brewers corner.
26 - Back at the car.
