Ascent Trip Report***Private Outing***
Tanya, Kayla and I started out from Red Box, and hiked up to the turnout about 0.4 mile up Mt Wilson Road (that road was closed to vehicles). From there we got on the San Gabriel Peak trail and hiked up through a seriously nice, cool, shady oak forest up to the road just below Mt Disappointment. From there we headed over to San Gabriel Peak (still a little icy snow up there on the north side of the peak) and up to its summit. Then we headed back down to the road and over towards Mt Disappointment. Then we got off the road and headed up Disappointment's SE ridge and up to the summit. From there we headed down the road and then over to Mt Deception, leaving the road to climb Deception's (steep) east ridge and then up to the summit. From there we headed cross country for a bit to meet up with another paved road, which we followed for a while before dropping back down onto the San Gabriel Peak trail and then out.
About 6.5 miles with 1,900' gain and 5 hours for the trip.
