Ascent Trip Report

Access: From the suburban sprawl of Lake Havasu City, it is a long and slow drive to the turn below the locked gate many others have used as their trailhead. The roads are primitive and confusing, so I would highly recommend using Eric Kassan's GPS track for navigation. The road is definitely high clearance territory and 4WD and beefy tires are highly recommended. My 4Runner had just enough clearance to not bottom out on the worst part of the road (near the end) and I used 4WD since there were a lot of loose rocks (although I didn't need it). The final hairpin turn has plenty of room to park (there is no room at the gate) and this is where I car camped the night before.

The Climb: This is a simple road walk to the radio towers at 4700'. There are some open gates along the way but the signage wasn't particularly negative. Once at the towers, there is a well-defined use trail that heads toward the summit along the north side of the ridge. Following this trail will take you to the summit where there was a register and reference marker (but no benchmark that I could see). Despite the great views of Lake Havasu, the summit was quite cold and windy, so I didn't stay too long. Easy hike back to the car.

My Thoughts: As an easy road walk with a tedious approach drive, Crossman Peak didn't impress me much, but its status as a p3k puts it in good company. Final peak of 2020, my most productive peakbagging year to date!

I am always looking for climbing partners, so feel free to contact me if you want to team up.
