Ascent of Mount Wrightson on 2020-10-24Date: | Saturday, October 24, 2020 | Ascent Type: | Successful Summit Attained | Peak: | Mount Wrightson | Location: | USA-Arizona | Elevation: | 9453 ft / 2881 m |
Ascent Trip ReportA late start meant a little bit of a longer hike, starting from the Amphitheater Trailhead rather than the standard Mount Wrightson picnic area start, adding a little under 2 miles each way. Either way, the third time turned out to be the charm. Maybe because I brought an extra water reservoir this time. Thick high desert vegetation gives way to taller conifers, which eventually clear out to unobstructed 360 degree views. Lemmon dominates the north, Graham the northeast, Dos Cabezas and the Chircahuas to the east, the Huachucas to the southeast, Mexico to the south, and Baboquivari and Kitt Peak to the west. Great way to spend a day. |
