Ascent Trip Report

Made a return trip with my friends Kent & Allison. Kent had studied Google Earth and came up with the approach which works well. The first part of the hike follows a deeply eroded wash with near vertical walls. This isn't like a slot canyon as the walls are just not eroded dirt rather than the sandstone.

The approach brought us to the base of the cliff wall on the west side which did not have a weakness that we could use. We circled counter clockwise and found the most promising weakness just below the summit on the east side. While I was unsuccessful, I think this route would work for someone who is more competent at scrambling than I. After my attempt on the first route I continued to circle the peak looking for other possible routes. I found a second route on the northeast side that seemed easier, but it would require more exploration as I did not try to go all the way.

This was close, but not a successful summit. I am grateful for my friends Kent & Allison who have endured more than a couple of my failed attempts an yet they still hike with me.
