Ascent of Buffalo Knob on 2010-11-27
|Date:||Saturday, November 27, 2010|
|Ascent Type:||Successful Summit Attained|
| Motorized Transport to Trailhead:||Car|
| Location:||USA-North Carolina|
| Elevation:||1480 ft / 451 m|
Ascent Trip ReportThis is a short bushwhack through briars and saplings. The hilltop was burned off in the last few years, and the side facing NC18 is now planted in pine.
From NC 18, duck under the gate and follow the gravel road up to the saddle between the two summits. The tower is not in Lincoln County so you can ignore the hill on the R. Near the saddle there's a short road on the L that leads toward the Lincoln HP, but it soon ends and the rest of the walk is miserable and unrewarding. The hunter stand mentioned in previous reports is gone. Evidently, deer are smarter than COHPers.
My 47th COHP and 24th in NC.
